The Danube As a significant part of Serbian history, the Danube, a grandiose monument of nature, was and still remains the point of both union and separation of nations and countries The Danube river depicts all the beautiful varieties and complexity of Serbia. The Danube has always been an integral part of our history. For centuries the Danube, the second largest river in Europe, has been the border between Serbia and the Austro-Hungarian Empire, at the same time dividing symbolically the East and the West.
The Sava is a river of extraordinary beauty and power. Just before the confluence with the Danube it forms a small lake, also known as “the Belgrade Sea” The Sava river, with a natural reserve park that has been protected since the 19th century, is a river of exceptional beauty and significance for Serbia. The nation’s capital was erected above the confluence of the Sava into the Danube, on a place where today the old and the new part of Belgrade meet. Just in front of the confluence lies a „sea“ – the Belgrade sea.
The Drina river - For centuries a place where the East and the West clashed, today the unusually green, clear, winding and powerful Drina river carries the merriest regattas on its waves through exciting nature, for which it became the favorite destination of bohemians and adventurists Once it was an important battle site that divided the Eastern and the Western Roman Empire, later the Austro-Hungarian Empire and Serbia, and today the Drina is the border between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Palić lake - A legend says Palić was made of tears. No matter what, this fabulous lake is nowadays one of the most popular destinations in Serbia and the host of a film festival. According to the legend, Palić lake was created from the tears of shepherd Pavle who lost his herd and that is why the water is salty. According to another story, the lake was created from the ancient Pannonian Sea that once bathed the shores of today’s Pannonian Plain.
Perućac lake - Perućac lake, created after the construction of the dam on the river Drina, is an ideal destination for relaxation in untouched nature or for a great fishing experience The artificial lake Perućac is located in Western Serbia, on the very border with Bosnia & Herzegovina, at the altitude of 290 meters. It was created by damming the flow of the Drina river and construction of the hydroelectric power plaint “Bajina Bašta”. The surface of the lake is 12 square kilometers while its depth reaches 60 meters.
Uvac - Compound of unreal meanders that nature carved in a miraculous way, and the most beautiful color of crystal clear waters of Uvac Lake, will quickly introduce you to the magic of this special reservation.
